Hydraulic Fracturing is "Fracking" wrong!

Hydraulic Fracturing, or “Fracking” is an extremely harmful toxic way of digging up oil from layers of rock that are deep beneath the surface of the earth. It has become dangerously popular in the New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia areas. The reason for this is that the areas are part of the Marcellus Shale region. It is home to the best kind of rock for fracking in the US.

Digging up rock in our own country seems like a good idea, it's our land, our resources, and in todays generation, oil is oil. Unfortunately the numerous dangerous fallbacks from fracking are too detremental to peoples lives to be deemed safe, or at least it should be. Fracking involves giant machines that use pressurized water infused with Benzene, Toluene, and ethylbenzene and other toxic chemicals to shoot through the rock layer exposing the oil. In doing this the earth is absorbing those chemicals and they are going into the water that the people who live around the area need to live. The people who live in these areas have been bullied by the oil industry's bribing their way through laws and regulation and have no choice but to live with it because they can not sell their properties. Many people have gotten increasingly sick from drinking this poisoned water because it is not safe to drink. The pollution not only is harming people but their pets, livestock, land, and general nature of their property. It is imperative that the oil companies be stopped from hurting the hundreds of thousands of people who's lives are being put at risk.

  1. What is the alternative to fracking, what can replace this in terms of sustainable energy?
