What fracking does to your water
This is one of the thousands of peoples stories about their highly toxic water. This water is said to be "safe to drink" even though it contains chemicals that are on the poison controls list of toxins to "Seek immediate medical attention upon consumption list". When the people who's water this happens to call the oil companies to try to put an end to this come to the homes, they will not drink the water. Many people have spent large amounts of money to have a specialist take samples of their water and run an analysis and every one comes back as toxic and non-drinkable. You would think that water being set on fire in front of someones eyes would be enough to put a stop to this, or a toxin report from a specialist would be enough to stop it, but it's not. The oil companies are ran by highly powerful people who play large rolls in the american oil politics. They can easily bend laws, find ways to create new ones that go around their work, or plain out bribe government officials to let them do their work.

It is mind-blowing to think that their water is said to be "safe to drink" yet on the contrary, ignites fumes once they are met with fire.
ReplyDeleteI found this post to be very interesting because not only are these oil companies tampering with the water that so many families use, but they are deny it as well. Water is used to put out fire, not to aid the growth of fire like the water in so many homes in these areas have.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you've chosen this topic in particular to report on. I myself am researching this topic and feel that everyone needs to be more aware and informed of what may be taking place in their own backyards.
ReplyDeleteNice blog, very informative, just wondering if bottled water would solve any of this?
ReplyDeleteI have gone upstate plenty of times and used the showers of residents . I would also notice a very strong sulfur like scent coming from the water. I know there are methane deposits all around us, but it did not occur to me that drilling could be causing a poisoning of our water supply until recently. You gave a sound and strong presentation. Great work.
ReplyDeleteI believe fracking is a problem and should be addressed, I believe this post clearly depicts the impact it has these people. Consuming water should improve the quality of life, not damage that. Families are imprisoned within their own homes, unable to experience the great outdoors which is a shame. Not only that but in a desperate attempt to remain safe, they continue to be harmed. People should feel safe and sound within their homes, not threatened.
ReplyDeleteI'd never use a faucet again.
